Aldon Smith reportedly transferred from jail to substance-abuse facility

Aldon Smith is reportedly being transferred to an inpatient substance-abuse facility.

According to KTVU.com, a San Francisco Superior Court judge ordered Smith to enter the facility and to stay there for 30 days, pending a status hearing next month.

The Bears were wise to keep Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator and retain starting cornerbacks Prince Amukamara and Kyle Fuller. But at the second level of their base 3-4, they could use a dynamic, versatile playmaker who can thrive inside or outside. Fangio, formerly of San Francisco, can get his Patrick Willis/NaVorro Bowman-type here.

Bottom line: The Giants’ 2018 schedule is tough. But before New York can think about navigating through that slate and competing for a spot in the NFC playoffs, it needs to focus internally. As they transition under their new head coach, the Giants’ new-look defense will be tested often by teams like the Cowboys, Eagles, Saints, Falcons, Texans and 49ers.

Stanton is playing down his first regular-season games against the Miami Marlins, which he’s insisting “are like any other game.”

Believe him or not, he’s doing the same regarding his supposed rift with a certain Yankees legend who now is a part-owner and CEO of the Marlins.

It is very interesting though that Derek Jeter will be in New York this week, but staying away from Yankee Stadium because he feels it’ll be “an awkward situation.”

Awkward because Jeter is a legendary Yankee who now runs the Marlins?

Or awkward because of how he reportedly tried forcing Stanton to waive his no-trade clause last winter to accept a trade to San Francisco or St. Louis before the Yankees helped continue the Marlins’ offseason fire sale by taking on most of the $218 million that was remaining on a $325-million contract that is the largest in baseball history?seahawks_101
